Life by the Spirit

Prayer

Dear Family,

As we near the end of Prayer Month, I want to encourage you to continue the practice of praying at 6a and 6p as part of your daily routine. A consistent prayer life allows us to be more sensitive to the will of God in our lives.

Consider keeping a prayer journal and revisit if from time to time. See how God has honored your diligence and how He has remained faithful. There is power in prayer!

What Jesus Can Do For You

Matthew 11:28-30

Most of us are going through the motion of living, but when we accept Jesus into our life, he will give us purpose and direction. The story of Bartimaeus is about more than being without physical sight, it is also about a spiritual blindness.

If we could get through our life on our own, most of us would do so; but the truth is we need some help from on high. Some of us want to use God as a cosmic bellhop to ensure that our existence is successful and secure and for people to think that we have been walking in our destiny.

The truth is, His purpose is that we all accept His provision for salvation in Jesus Christ. As soon as we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, then we walk into the divine purpose of God. God gave Jesus to us as our Savior; so anything that excludes Jesus is not in God’s will.

Let’s not be fooled today, when we find God in the person of Jesus Christ we find life. We have every reason to live, because he makes our purpose people. When we are regenerated, it is so we may be a blessing to someone else.

Strong Treasure, Weak Container

Just as the dented can contains more than what the surface suggest, we as people of God can be assured that no matter what is going on outside God values the treasure within. The dents make us just a little better. We all (including me) have dents in our can. It's not about the container but the content. Everything you have been through, don't be weary in well doing, you are getting better because of what the Lord is doing.

It is our obligation to give God the glory for all he has done. He is shaping you and I for something greater!
